ABOUT ME
My name is Ramón Campos, and I am an independent researcher, writer, and collector specialized in vintage Parker and Sheaffer fountain pens. I live in a radiant Mediterranean city in Spain.
Most of the time you will find me cycling along the coast, sharing long lunches with friends, or at home—either reading and writing about fountain pens, or sitting at an old wooden table replacing the diaphragm of a Parker Vacumatic.
Contrary to what some may think, I do not believe that studying the past means living in it. Fountain pens prove quite the opposite. Through this blog, I invite you to travel back to the Golden Age of fountain pens, exploring their design, engineering, advertising, and historical context.
I am particularly interested in what I like to call the intrahistory of objects: the small details that often go unnoticed, yet ultimately shape larger historical narratives. I believe there is no complete history without intrahistory.
History does not belong only in books. Today there is a growing international community of researchers—professional and independent—who use digital platforms to document, share, and discuss historical research. I consider myself part of that community.
My research has focused especially on Parker and Sheaffer, including work on Parker as pioneers of aviation, the translation of historical documents such as The Life Story of Walter Sheaffer, and the study of original advertisements, catalogs, and archival material.
Over the years, I have acquired, restored, written about, and sold hundreds of Parker and Sheaffer fountain pens. My work has been shared through articles, lectures, and collaborations within the international fountain pen community.
I am the co-author of specialized books on vintage fountain pens and a regular contributor to The Pennant, the official magazine of the Pen Collectors of America, where I collaborate on research and historical articles related to Parker and Sheaffer.
For more than fifteen years, I have written several hundred articles in specialized forums and publications, both in Spain and internationally, under the pseudonyms Little Wirt and Lazard, and later under my own name, Ramón Campos.
In the spring of 2020, I launched this website with the aim of collecting and preserving a substantial part of that work, publishing new research, and sharing—whenever possible translated—my documentary and graphic archive on Parker and Sheaffer.
Here you will also find guidance and inspiration for choosing your next vintage fountain pen.
I invite you to explore the site, read the blog, and join the conversation.
Enjoy the journey with me.
Ramón Campos
